About The Corkscrew

Peter Foley establishes The Corkscrew. In 1978, a storefront appeared on Aughrim Street. Peter oversaw the Irish branch of the renowned wine merchants Berry Bros. and Rudd for four decades. Berry’s was a fantastic wine store that was conveniently in the city’s heart. But they stopped doing business in Ireland, creating a gap that can now be filled only by competitors.

Thankfully, Peter and his son Paul recognized this, and they set out on a quest to locate a place in the center of Dublin where they could source beautiful wines that people were excited about. On March 24, 2004, the original location of what is now known as The Corkscrew at 4 Chatham Street was inaugurated. Despite its small size, it offers a diverse selection of unique and reasonably priced wines.

It has gained the reputation of being “Dublin’s largest tiny wine store.” It has been successful for a long time, and even though it is small, it has a wide range of unique wines at reasonable prices. Even after 18 years, Paul Foley’s enthusiasm for wine and his role as manager and owner of The Corkscrew have not waned.
